Jiuzhaigou Natural Resort

Jiuzhaigou (Nine-Village Gorge) Natural Resort , lying in Nanping county of Aba Tibetan and Qiang nationalities Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan province , was put on the World Natural Heritages List by UNESCOWHC in 1992 .       More than four hundred kilometers north of Chengdu , the provincial capital of Sichuan , it stretches over 80 kilometers and covers an area of over 60,000 hectares . Its six main scenic sites are : Chang Hai (Long Sea) , Jia Yan (Sword Rock) , Nuo Ri Lang Cataract , Shu Zheng Lakes , Zha Ru Lakes and Hei Hai (Black Sea) Lake . Its wonderful scenes of green lakes , overlapping falls , colorful forests , snowy peaks and its Tibetan life are of worldwide renown . Spectacular , primitive and natural , Jiuzhaigou Natural resort is known as the "Fairly Land on earth" . Its mountains are 1,980 m . to 3,100 m . above the sea-level , strange in shape and covered by both exuberant coniferous forests and broadleaf forests . The spectacles in the four seasons are changeful and fanciful . Particularly in autumn , the colorful forests look like colorful waves of lakes , while the lakes , springs , rivers and brooks are all linked to each other , beautiful and colorful . 　The Shuzhen Lakes Scenic Site is the central scenery of Jiuzhaigou Natural Resort . With an area of about 3 sq. km . its more than 40 lakes stretch continuously for more than ten li . The lakes are all crystal clear , but have different shades of color due to the different plants on their banks and the different sediments in them . The Reed-Sea Lake is the ideal habitat of waterfowl . The Shuzhen Falls drops down in tiers amidst clusters of trees . The Spark-Sea Lake is surging and charming . The Sleeping Dragon Lake looks like a diving dragon . The Rhinoceros lake is just sufficiently deep and is sapphirine , suitable for boating , rafting and swimming . 　The Nuo Ri Lang Cataract scenic site has an area of about 3 sq.km. Nuo Ri Lang Falls is more than 320 meters wide with a 20-meters drop . It is the widest mountain waterfall in China , and is the symbol of Jiuzhaigou Natural Resort . The Mirror-Sea Lake is as smooth as a mirror , giving inverted images of the forest along the bank . Pearl Shoal is flooded with water of the Pearl Shoal Falls , which is 310 meters wide and most striking . The Five-Color Poll is most colorful , and looks like a peacock spreading its tail .     The Jian Yan (Sword Rock) scenic site has an area of about 1 sq . km. In it are the scenic spots of Swan Rock , Snow Hill and Primeval Forest . A lucky visitor might catch sight of pandas here . Zechawa Gorge is about 17.8 kilometers long , the longest and highest gorge in Jiuzhaigou . Chang Hai (Long Sea) Lake at the end of the gorge is about 8 km . long and is the longest lake in Jiuzhaigou . In winter , ice frozen on top of the lake is 60 cm . thick . The Five Color Pool lies inside a thick forest . It has five colors and is the most colorful lake in Jiuzhaigou
