Mount Huang Natural Resort

　Lying in Mount Huang City near Huangshan Prefecture , Huizhou Prefecture , She County , Yi County and Xiuning county in the south of Anhui province , the mount stretches 40 kilometers from north to south and 30 kilometers from east to west , and covers total area of 1,200 square kilometers with the part of it as the natural resort covering 154 square kilometers . Reputed as a "heavenly picture" , Mount Huang Natural Resort is a key national natural resort . In it are 36 major peaks and 36 minor peaks . The three main peaks , the Lotus Peak , the Tiandu Peak and the Guangming summit , are all 1,800 m . above the sea –level . There are 72 peaks with a height of more than 1,000 meters .

　　Mount Huang is known worldwide for its "four wonders" : strange pine trees , queer rocks , cloud-sea and hot spring . The Mount Huang pine trees , scattering all over the peaks and ravines , are an independent botanical species . Thirty-one of them are the most famous , including the Greeting Pine , the Sending-Off Pine and the Sleeping-Dragon Pine . Queer rocks are found everywhere in Mount Huang , as stone forests and stone bamboo groves or as individual intricate , strangely shaped stones . The best known rocks include the "Golden Rooster at the Heavenly Gate" , the "Squirrel on Tiandu Peak" , the "Monkey Gazing at the Sea" , etc . On account of its high peaks , deep ravines , thick forests and plenty of rains , one sees often of Mount Huang the phenomena of magnificent cloud seas , which are mist and stratocumulus drifting in sky , forming changeful shapes . The hot springs on Mount Huang are clear and potable , and may be bathed in .

　 　Mount Huang is a natural zoological and botanical garden , with forest coverage of 56% , and total vegetation coverage of 82.6% . There are scattered 1,452 species of plants and 552 species of animals , many of which are rare ones .

　　 Mount Huang boasts plenty of historical and cultural remains . There are over 200 historical remains including temples , pavilions , halls , winding paths , ancient bridges and rock carvings ,adding to he charm of the landscapes . In She county and Tunxi county at the foot of Mount Huang , there are also many historical relics , particularly the classical Anhui style architectures constructed during the Ming Dynasty .
