Mount Lu Natural Resort

The Mount Lu Natural Resort was put on the Dual World Cultural Natural Heritages List in 1996 by UNESCOWHC .It is situated in the south of Jiujiang city of Jiangxi province by the side of Poyang Lake . One of the famous mountains in China , it occupies an area of about 300 sq. km. Its highest peak is Great Hanyang Peak , at 1,474 m . above the sea-level . It has graceful peaks , changeful cloud seas , attractive springs and falls , and ancient historic relics .

　Its main scenic spots are Five Elders Peak , Three-Tier Spring, Poyang Lake Mouth , Reed-Forest Lake , Great Top Pond , Flower Passage , Qin shaped Lake , Brocade Gully , Fairy Cave , Small Top Pond , Donglin Temple , White Deer-Hollow Academy , Mount Lu Botanic Garden , Mount Lu Museum ,etc .

　Five Elders Peak is located in the southeast of Mount Lu . It has undulating ridges like five elders sitting beside each other . Poyang Lake Mouth lies between Five Elders Peak and Jiuqi Peak . The Poyang Lake Mouth Peak at the harbor of the lake looks as if it is imbibing water from the lake . It is 1,211 meters above the sea-level . Watching the lake from here , one sees many sails of the sailing boat on a great expanse of surging water . Poyang Lake Mouth Pavilion is a good place for watching the sunrise . Three Tiers Spring is located at the east of .

　Five Elders Peak . The spring falls first on a big rock , and then falls down again , with a total drop of 300 meters . In the sunshine , it glitters brilliantly and colorfully . It gets the name of three tiers , because it hits rocks and looks as if it has several tiers . Donglin Temple is located at the northwest foot of Mount Lu , and is the place of origin of the Pure Land Sect of Buddhism . White-Deer-Cave Academy is claimed to be located at the valley below Five Elders Peak , being one of the earliest academies in China . In the Tang Dynasty , Li Bo lived here in seclusion . He was known as Mr . White Deer , because he reared white deer here . The place was called White-Deer-Hollow and was made the premises of an academy . In the beginning of the Song Dynasty the academy was expanded . The present houses of it were reconstructed during the reign of Emperor Daoguang (1821-1850) in the Qing Dynasty . Both the Great Top Pond and the Small Top Pond are scenic spots on Mount Lu . At the Great Top Pond one can see the beautiful twilight sunglow and see the Yangtze River like a line in the far . At the Small Top Pond one can watch the waterscape of Poyang Lake . Mount Lu Museum is located in the woods on the northern bank of Reed Forest Lake . In it are exhibited ancient bronze objects , pottery of different dynasties , handwriting of calligraphists in the Tang and Song Dynasties , calligraphy and paintings of calligraphists and painters in the Ming and Qing Dynasties , etc . Mount Lu Botanical Garden is located at the east of Mount Lu , at 1,000 m . to 1,300 m . above the sea-level . It is a hill botanical garden , occupying an area of about 3 sq. km ., established in 1934 . In this botanical garden are now gathered 3,400 species of domestic and overseas plants and over a hundred thousand plant specimens .
